Program Information

DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program
The CEBR program provides funding to states and units of local government with existing crime laboratories that conduct DNA analysis to increase the capacity of publicly funded forensic DNA and DNA database laboratories to process more DNA samples.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
The goal of PREA is to eradicate prisoner rape in all types of correctional facilities in this country.

Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence – Inventory, Tracking, and Reporting (SAFE-ITR) Program
The SAFE-ITR program provides funding for agencies to gain insight into the scope of unanalyzed sexual assault kits (SAKs) and for managing the status of the workflow of the SAKs.

Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI)
The goal of this program is to address the growing number of unsubmitted sexual assault kits in law enforcement custody, and to help provide resolution for victims when possible.

Additional Resources

National PREA Resource Center
With funding support from BJA, the PREA Resource Center provides training and technical assistance to adult and juvenile corrections and law enforcement agencies seeking to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse in confinement.

SAKI Training and Technical Assistance (TTA)
The BJA-funded SAKI TTA program provides direct assistance to jurisdictions that receive funding through SAKI as well as other jurisdictions engaged in reform efforts.
