Goals of the John R. Justice Grant Program:

Prior to the beginning of the John R. Justice Grant Program, Connecticut employed 248 prosecutors and 213 public defenders.
As of today, Connecticut employs 232 prosecutors and 188 public defenders.
To encourage qualified attorneys to be employed as public defenders by the state of Connecticut or federal government in Connecticut or as a prosecutor employed by the state of Connecticut;
To provide repayment assistance of qualified educational loans for eligible applicants based upon least ability to pay and years of services;
To provide and maintain outreach efforts to potential beneficiaries through electronic and other methods of communication.
