Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $3,817,094)
New Jersey is at the forefront of using intelligence-led, data-driven policing strategies to deploy limited policing resources. Funding awarded under the FY 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program State Solicitation (FY24 JAG) will be used to continue to build necessary and successful programs designed and implemented in response to New Jersey’s strategy to combat crime through targeted investigations and prosecutions. Programs will focus on reducing violent crime, keeping communities safe, enhancing community policing, bolstering law enforcement officer resiliency, and providing data sharing capabilities and efficiencies among the State’s criminal justice partners. Funded initiatives are designed to service the entire State in an effort to enhance criminal justice programs throughout the State and in an effort to emphasize collaboration. Funding will be awarded to State agencies as well as county law enforcement agencies. Awards to county law enforcement agencies will be formula-based. Programs to be funded include County Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Forces, Multi-Jurisdictional Gangs, Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Forces, Prosecutor Supervision Training, Ballistics, Anti-Corruption Initiative, Office of Justice Data Initiative, Law Enforcement Resiliency Training, and Auto Theft Task Force.
