Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $1,000,000)

Current SUD treatment access wait times in King County (KC) range from weeks to months, and enrollment rates in available treatment are low, resulting in high relapse, overdose, and recidivism rates. This proposal will bring together state, county, and local partners in planning, coordinating, procuring, and implementing an electronic, virtual, 24/7/365, SUD recovery system that offers immediate and interim SUD interventions specifically designed to address the unique needs of at least 500 persons involved in the criminal legal system. The applicant states that funds will be used “to sustain a performance-based contracting practice.” Funds will be used to procure a virtual Treatment Reentry Portal. Jail bookings, substance use, supervision violations, and times for intake, enrollment, services, and engagement are expected to decrease. In addition, the percent completion of assigned care and the percentage of treatment enrollment are expected to increase. Enrollment for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) is expected exceed the current rate of 12%.
