Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $35,821)
Galveston County endeavors to utilize the 2023 JAG allocation to increase the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in the county. Galveston County proposes to divide the 2023 JAG allcoation of $35,821 evenly with the desiprate eligable entity of the City of Galveston ($17,910.50/each). Galveston County will serve as the Fiscal Agent for the grant and maintain responsibility for programmtic and financial reporting as well as sub-recipient interlocal agreement oversight. The expected outcome beneficiaries of the project include a more efficient criminal justice process for approximately 30 veterans through our Veterans Treatment Court and enhancement of up tp 40 officers' safety though the purchase of protective gear both within Galveston County geographical area.
