Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $749,115)
The purpose of this proposal is for California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) to procure network specific hardware and software to deploy wireless network technology (Wi-Fi) across its selected offices supporting the California Sex and Arson Registry (CSAR) staff and Information Technology (IT) environment. This may include the purchase of any necessary extended warranty coverage to protect the hardware and software. CA DOJ will also procure new storage (array) hardware and extended warranty coverage to maintain the Splunk software program. Both efforts are vital to support state and federal sex registration and notification mandates. Through this proposal, CA DOJ is seeking an award of $749,115.00 to fund both efforts.
If the United States Department of Justice, Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking Office were to award the 2024 Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act Reallocation Grant to CA DOJ, they will modernize the traditional networking system currently deployed in its selected offices hosting the technical and business staff supporting the CSAR IT environment by implementing a secure Wi-Fi solution. Additionally, they will refresh the array hardware essential to the Splunk software program, which is responsible for capturing, indexing, and correlating real-time data, or otherwise known as log files, from integrated systems supporting the CSAR database.
These proposed projects promote long-term solutions to continue to execute mandated state and federal sex offender registry processes. Additionally, both efforts support staff ability to secure sex registrant data; minimize security vulnerabilities; maintain existing internal and external interfaces for the purpose of data exchange and information transferring; ensure heightened connectivity; allow the flexibility of making future enhancements and modifications; and ensure the mission critical CSAR environment and integrated systems remain reliable and available for internal and external end users to fulfill mandates.
