Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $199,720)

The FY 2014 Justice Information Sharing (JIS) Solutions Implementation Program is funded under the Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program (Byrne Competitive Program), the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, or external transfer from the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment (PMISE). It is authorized by the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2014, Pub. L. No.113-76. BJA funds will support the implementation of justice information sharing solutions that address critical challenges currently faced by state, local, and tribal criminal justice agencies. The JIS solutions implemented under this program will support criminal justice policies, practices, and programs that are data-driven and evidence-based.

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (SDDCI) increase the capacity for criminal justice information sharing through in South Dakota thru the SD's Criminal Justice Information Sharing Initiative. SDDCI will enhance two prominent information sharing projects, Connect SD (CSD), a Justice Information Sharing Cross boundary data exchange hub, and the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) system.
