This program provides funds to enable eligible entities to improve the reporting, transportation, processing, and identification of missing persons and unidentified human remains.
Justice Department Boosts Efforts to Solve American Indian and Alaska Native Missing Person and Unidentified Remains Cases
As announced in a November 23, 2021, press release, the Department of Justice is committing $800,000 to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) specifically to increase the program’s capacity to provide outreach, investigative support, and forensic services to cases involving American Indians and Alaska Natives.

BJA is seeking applications for funding local jurisdictions’ efforts to reduce the number of deaths and injuries of individuals with forms of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease or developmental disabilities such as autism who, due to their condition, wander from safe environments.
